Curious to relate, but one of the most popular and beloved by the audience opera still was missed in the Helikon-opera’s repertoire! But by the way, the theatre’s artistic director, worldwide known director Dmitry Bertman has staged “Tosca” by G. Puccini in the Latvian National Opera twice (in 2004 and 2012). All Moscow melomaniacs were dreaming about the appearance of this opera in the Helikon’s playbill. Finally, the fans of Puccini’s masterpiece will be able to see “Tosca” on the stage of “Stravinsky” Hall. The premiere will take place on February, 10 in 2021.
Surprising coincidence, but the play “Tosca”, which plot had been adopted by G. Puccini, was primarily written by V. Sardou especially for Sarah Bernhardt, who in the end of the XIX century had visited Moscow and was performing in the historical building, where our theatre is situated for the moment. In Helikon we believe, that the spirit of the phenomenal Sarah will invisibly attend the rehearsals and the first night, inspiring its creators.
