Helikon-opera at Birgitta festival

From 8 to 17 August 2014 in Tallinn, at the monastery of St. Birgitta, located in Pirita, the green coastal area of the city, opera and ballet festival "Birgitta" will take place. "Helikon-opera" is a constant participant of the festival.

In 2005 "Helikon" for the first time presented "Les Dialogues des Carmelites" by F. Poulenc at the festival, and in 2006 the whole three performances were brought to "Birgitta": "The Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk" by Shostakovich, "La Clemenza di Tito" and "Apollo and Hyacinthus" by W. A. Mozart and a concert of sacred music performed by artists of the choir of the theater. In 2009 "Falstaff" by G. Verdi and "Siberia" by U. Giordano were shown, "Russalka" by Dvorak and "Carmen" by Bizet in 2011.

This year "Helikon-Opera" presents at the festival:

August, 15
Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Un Ballo in Maschera" with leading soloists Elena Mikhaylenko, Ilya Govzich, Honored Artist of Russia Ksenia Viaznikova, Alexey Isaev, Lydia Svetozarova. Stage director People's Artist of the Russian Federation Dmitry Bertman, set and costumes by Igor Nezhny and Tatiana Tulubieva. Conductor - Valery Kiryanov.

"KLASsnaya Opera" concert. Conductors of concert are Eri Klas and Valery Kiryanov. "KLASsnaya Opera" is a gift of the theater on the 75th anniversary of Eri Klas, a friend of "Helikon-Opera", an outstanding conductor and artistic director of "Birgitta" festival.

Estonian singers Rauno Elpit, Prov Vollmer, Haley Veskus, Oliver Kuusik, Marion Elva will take part in the concert together with “Helikon-opera” artists.

The performances begin at 19.00.
