On the 28th of May Azerbaidjan celebrates The Day of the Republic. The Artistic Director of "Helikon-Opera" Dmitry Bertman took part in the solemn ceremony, devoted to this holiday in Moscow.
Baku and Moscow musical theatre "Helikon-Opera" with its artistic director Dmitry Bertman are closely connected by creativity. The theatre more than once came on tour to the hospitable city of Baku, where the artists performed on stage of UNS theatre, which is headed by artistic director Nargiz Pashayeva. "Helikon-Opera" constantly cooperates with famous Azerbaidjani conductor Yalcin Adigezalov. Dmitry Bertman and Yalcin Adigezalov first met in Istanbuli opera during the production of "Prince Igor" in 2003.
In May 2010 the premiere of "Intizar" opera by modern Azerbaidjani composer Frangiz Ali-Zade in Dmitry Bertman's production took place on stage of Geidar Aliev Palace in Baku. "Intizar" opera (libretto by Nargiz Pashaeva) is a scale work, describing the patriotic struggle of folk heroes for the freedom of their homeland. Set designer Harmuth Schoerghofer (Austria), costume designer Karin Chrome (Austria), conductor Vladimir Ponkin and choreographer Edwald Smirnov took part in the production together with Dmitry Bertman. The premiere of the performance became the notable event in musical and public life of modern Azerbaidjan.
The troupe of Moscow musical theatre "Helikon-Opera" congratulates its Azerbaidjani friends with the Day of the Republic and wishes new interesting creative projects.
