On the 20th of March in Rome opera there is a world premiere of "Il re nudo" in Dmitry Bertman's production, composed by modern Italian composer Luca Lombardi under the motives of Eugene Schwartz works.

Luca Lombardi is a contemporary Italian classic, and he worked upon his opera, as once his famous compatriots, according to the order of the theatre. The three H. C. Andersen's tales, well-known in Italy  and retaled by Eugene Schwartz - "The Naked King", "The Princess and the Pea" and "The Swineherd" - became the basis for the plot:

The idea of this production was suggested by famous Italian singer Elio. The main role, taking into account Elio's temperament and charisma, was designated for him. The rest of the cast were classic singers. For example, Paolo Coni (The Father of the Princess) is a world-famous Germont.

The production team is international. The conductor is Enrique Mazzola, who often visits Moscow and only a month ago performed in Big concert hall named after P. I. Tchaikovski with Russian National Orchestra and Bolshoi theatre orchestra. The stage-director is Artistic Director of "Helikon-Opera" Dmitry Bertman. Balletmaster is a constant Bertman's co-author Edwald Smirnov. The set and costume designer is Lena Lukjanova, who now works in Germany.

"Il re nudo" opera is sharply social, which is extremely consonant with the current political situation in Italy. The stage-director Dmitry Bertman had to work in complex situation during the change of directorship of the theatre and trade unions special activity. But he overcame all difficulties, succesfully solving conflicts between the performers and production team, that is not always possible for Italian residents.

Thereby Dmitry Alexandrovich confirmed his reputation as a director to whom nobody can say "no".
