This 2025 the Helikon-opera theatre turns 35 years old! And so many things have happened in our theater over these years, so many legendary performances have been born, so many landmark meetings have happened that it is impossible to list all. But life goes on, and our theatre enters the new season under the slogan “Helikon-opera is a place of special meetings”, because for 35 years of its existence Helikon has become not just a world-famous theatre, but a unique place that changes people's lives.

Helikon opens its jubilee season on August 23 with the premiere performance of Madama Butterfly by G. Puccini and on the same days the theatre will record the performance together with the TV channel Russia - Culture.

The Third young opera artists Programme will start at the Helikon-opera theatre with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives of the Russian Federation the 1 of September. 11 young singers from different regions of our country will take part in it. Dmitry Bertman, People's Artist of Russia is the artistic director and author of this project.

PREMIERES

24 October 2024 – musical and dramatic spectacle The Secret of the House with Lions, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Museum of Modern History of Russia, the stage-director is Ilya Ilin, laureate of the Moscow Prize, Honored Worker of Culture of Russia, the screenwriter is Marina Skalkina, the conductor is Valery Kiryanov, laureate of the Moscow Prize, at the Stravinsky Hall.

19 December 2024 – the revival of the opera Les Contes d’Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach, the stage-director is the People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Bertman, at the Stravinsky Hall.

21 December 2024 – gala concert The Light of the Bethlehem Star, the stage-director is Rostislav Protasov, Honored Worker of Culture of Russia, the conductor is Valery Kiryanov, laureate of the Moscow Prize, at the Stravinsky Hall.

5 March 2025 – operetta Un mari à la porte by Jacques Offenbach, the stage-director is Olga Melkumova, the conductor is Artem Davydov, at the Shakhovskaya Hall.

10 April 2025 – musical spectacle for the 35th anniversary of the theatre Place for Special Meetings, the stage-director is Dmitry Bertman, People's Artist of Russia, the conductor is Valery Kiryanov, laureate of the Moscow Prize, at the Stravinsky Hall.

28 June 2025 – the opera Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin, the stage-director is the People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Bertman, at the Stravinsky Hall.

The 1 of September Helikon-opera goes on tour to Nizhny Novgorod, where we will present the premiere of the 34th season - the opera Der Kaiser von Atlantis by Viktor Ullmann on the stage of the Nizhny Novgorod Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A.S. Pushkin, during the Festival of Modern Music.

The St. Petersburg Chamber Opera will come on tour to Helikon in September with the sparkling operetta Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss and the rare opera Der Vampyr by Heinrich Marschner staged by the People's Artist of Russia Yuri Alexandrov.

In the 35th season Helikon traditionally welcomes participants of the Festival “To See the Music”. This will be the ninth edition of the Festival. The Volgograd Musical Theater will show the metropolitan audience the performance Gräfin Mariza by Emmerich Kálmán, the St. Petersburg Musical Theater named after Feodor Chaliapin - the opera Manon by Jules Massenet, the Saratov Opera and Ballet Theater will present the opera Peter I by Andrei Petrov, the Novouralsk Theater of Music, Drama and Comedy – The Captain's Daughter by Evgeny Zagot and The Moscow Theatre named after Natalia Sats – the ballet Romeo and Juliet by Sergei Prokofiev. Helikon-opera will show two performances during the Festival “To See the Music”: Forgotten tales land and La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini.

In the first half of the season the audience will meet with Helikon people celebrating a jubilee: the concertmaster of the Helikon-opera cello group Viktor Kozodov will celebrate his jubilee the 3 of September in the White-Columned Hall of Princess Shakhovskaya with a festive concert Love. Music. Company, and the Jubilee Evening of the Theater's Basses with the participation of magnificent basses Mikhail Guzhov, Alexander Kiselev, Alexey Tikhomirov, Stanislav Shvets and Dmitry Skorikov will take part the 17 of November, at the Stravinsky Hall.

The famous Helikon’s Girl’s Party and Guy’s Party will traditionally be held on February 23 and March 8.

The theatre will celebrate its 35th birthday in April with a series of gala concerts Place for Special Meetings.

Meetings in The drawing-room of Lyudmila Zhumaeva and concerts of the #Jazzkafe project will continue. The charity projects We will help you! and Theater Therapy will also continue throughout the season and the White-columned Hall of Princess Shakhovskaya will open its doors to young artists as part of the #PRODIGY.kids project.

The theatre's exhibition projects will delight the audience with new expositions.
