Helikon-opera in the City Day celebrations

In the first September weekend, on September 5 and 6, 2015, Moscow will traditionally celebrate the City Day. Moscow musical theater "Helikon-Opera" under Dmitry Bertman has always been a constant participant of festive events.

This year, on September 5, at 12 pm, the theatre will perform on the Red Square in the heroic epic, glorifying the exploits of the Russian people. The choir and soloists will take part in a colorful episode, telling about Minin and Pozharsky heroes.

The chorus of Helikon-opera will perform Song to Poltava victory, "Oh, Eagle of  Russia" and "Glory" from Glinka's opera "Ivan Susanin", and soloist Alexei Tikhomirov (bass) will enter country’s main square with Susanin’s aria.

On September 6, the second day of the celebration of the city day, Helikon-Opera will present the Back in the USSR! performance at the Patriarch's Ponds. The performance features songs by Isaac Dunaevsky, Vasily Solovyov-Sedoy, Nikita Bogoslovsky, Matthew Blanter, Boris Mokrousov, Tikhon Khrennikov, Yuri Milutin and Anatoly Lepin performed by soloists: People's Artist of Russia Natalia Zagorinskaya, Honored Artist of Russia Ksenia Viaznikova and Tatiana Kuindzhi, Marina Andreyeva, Anatoly Ponomaryov, Andrei Vylegzhanin, as well as Elena Mikhailenko, Dmitry Yankovsky, Peter Morozov, Alexei Isaev, Andrey Palamarchuk Alexander Miminoshvili, Dmitry Khromov, Dmitry Ponomarev, Maya Barkovskaya, Alexey Dedov, Svetlana Rossiyskaya, Elena Semenova, Alexander Kiselev, artists of the choir and orchestra of the theater. The performance will start at 17.20.

Other participants of the event at the Patriarch's Pond include Moscow Chamber Orchestra Musica Viva, a brass band by Oleg Menshikov and Marimba Plus ensemble.
