"Boris Godunov" at Kolomenskoye Museum Reserve

On August 9, 2014 Moscow Musical Theatre "Helikon-Opera" under Dmitry Bertman presented "Boris Godunov" opera by M. P. Mussorgsky (D. D. Shostakovich edition) in the square of the Church of the Ascension at the Kolomenskoye Museum Reserve in Moscow.

The peformance was shown in the context of celebration of two dates: the 175th anniversary of the birth of composer Modest Mussorgsky, and the 20th anniversary of the Church of the Ascension, which was included in the list of World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

Director of the production - People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Bertman, conductor - People's Artist of Russia Vladimir Pon'kin, costumes - Honored Artist of Russia Tatiana Tulubieva, Choreographer - Edvald Smirnov, assistant director - Ilya Ilyin.

Opera was performed in natural scenery, area in front of the church and bell tower terrace were involved. And even the moon, which entered a Supermoon phase, became a natural entourage of the performance.

The lawn outside the church in Kolomenskoye was full: public was sitting in stalls with chairs and on benches on the lawn, and used free seats on the grass.

More than a thousand spectators attended "Boris Godunov" perfromance at Kolomenskoye Museum Reserve.
