“Un ballo in maschera" in "Hleikon-opera"

On May 22-25 Helikon- Opera hold a series of performances of “Un ballo in maschera" by G. Verdi.

For Dmitry Bertman, the stage director, “Un ballo in maschera” opera is about two passions, two drugs which attract almost everyone – power and love. The basis for the plot is a political conspiracy, where love is a small change. The ruler took a fancy to his friend’s wife. The conspirators make a whole story on this occasion an turn a loyal follower into an opposition leader.

Conductor Simone Fermani visited one of the performances, a direct descendant of Giuseppe Verdi. Maestro Fermani conducted the premiere performance of "Un ballo in maschera" on September 5, 2013
