On May 16, 2014 Sonostream.tv website will broadcast "Der Rosenkavalier" performance in Dmitry Bertman’s production.

As we reported earlier, the artistic director of "Helikon-opera" People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Bertman staged Richard Strauss' “Der Rosenkavalier" at the Malmö Opera House, one of the main theatre venues of Scandinavia.
"Der Rosenkavalier" was the sixth Dmitry Bertman’s performance in Sweden.

To celebrate the year of Richard Strauss on May 16, 2014 Sonostream.tv and Malmö Opera House broadcast "Der Rosenkavalier" opera in Dmitry Bertman’s production, conductor - Leif Segerstam. Performance can be found on the website until June 5!

Some may know this opera as "The Knight of the White Rose". But regardless of the name, this opera is a recognized masterpiece created by two geniuses: a composer Richard Strauss and a librettist Hugo von Hofmannsthal.
The action takes place in Vienna. Aging woman loses battle for the young lover to a young rival, but she gains a valuable skill to be able to let go. A comic story happens in paralell, the lecherous old baron is in its centre. He is trying to improve his financial situation by marrying a young girl from a rich, but simple family.

Malmö Opera House production can boast its international cast of professional performers and directors. Stage director Dmitry Bertman (head of "Helikon- Opera") and Finnish conductor Leif Segerstam are well-known to the opera public and the press.

Charlotte Larsson performs the part of a Marschallin, a beautiful woman of noble birth, losing her young lover because of a young rival. Being one of the leading lyric sopranos of Sweden, she brings emotion and sensuality to the role.

Dorottya Láng sings Octavian. Young Hungarian mezzo-soprano has a voice with an impressive upper register and well-paced career. Now the singer is in the company of Volksopera, before that she worked in Mannheim Opera. The singer is the winner of Emmerich Smola Prize (2014).

Swedish soprano Sofie Asplund performs the part of Sophie, from whom Octavian loses his head. A year ago the singer won the famous Birgit Nilsson scholarship.
Runi Brattaberg acts as Baron Ochs, whose cunning plan of enrichment due to marriage is disintegrated by Octavian. Brattaberg previously played this part, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, in Amsterdam, at the Metropolitan Opera , and in Cincinnati.
