“Following characters of the books” photo exhibition

Specially to the 23rd of February, the Defence Day, the new exhibition was opened in the foyer of “Helikon-opera”. Soloists of the theatre turned into recognizable characters of the books: Raskolnikov, Oblomov, Faust, Kaligula and many others. As the last year, the chief creator of the project Anastasiya Ditkovskaya, became the producer of the new series. “The pilot project turned to be successful, - says Nastya, - and we decided to continue”.

It needs to be mentioned that “Following characters of the books” is a continuation of “Divas” project, where female soloists turned into Marylin Monroe, Coco Chanel, Cleopatra... Now men were caught by Natalia Kononenko’s viewfinder. They turned into books characters. The executive director of Helikon-opera Rostislav Protasov and maker-up Sviatoslava Osipova, Maria Krysenkova, Viktoria Rybakova and Pavel Snisarenko contributed to the success of the project.
The exhibition will be opened throuout a year.

“It was easy to work upon this project, - says Anastassiya Ditkovskaya, - many images were born in the walls of Helikon-opera. I imagined Alexander Kiselev as Kaligula, and everybody was surprised: “Why Kiselev is Kaligula? What for?” But it turned to be great! We tried to unite some soloists in one picture as different characters. For example, Andrey Palamarchuk plays both Faust and Mephistopheles. We shoot two parts one by one, and then united them in one collage. Konstantin Brzhinsky played both The Stone Guest – the Commander and Don Juan.

18 works – 18 of the photographic masterpieces. Soloists of Helikon-opera tried on the images of Don Quixote and Sancho Pansa, the Three Musketeers, Hamlet, Sherlock Holmes, and other literary characters.

“Last year we had Gala and Dali – the only man, who got into last year series – explains Anastasiya Ditkovskaya – this year we have the only woman Maya Barkovskaya, who performs Desdemona. Her husband, Alexey Dedov, performs Othello”.

After issuing a new interesting project, authors are planing the continuation of series: “We have plans for the next year, - says Anastassiya, – we would like to make big pictires with the mass scenes from famous fairy tales. I am sure that public will pay attention to this exhibition. The spectators will see how handsome are the men in our theatre. I am happy we have so many different characters in the theatre.”
