Moscow musical theatre “Helikon-opera” received “Tsarina” performance as a gift

On February 17 the solemn ceremony of free delivery of Tukhmanov’s “Tsarina” performance by META Education Fund, which is a Family Fund of Nikolay Tsvetkov, to “Helikon-opera” musical theatre was held. Tsarina’s libretto was written by Yuri Ryashentsev and Galina Pollidi. The director of the performance is the Artistic Director of "Helikon-opera", The People's Artist of Russia, professor Dmitry Bertman.

The premiere of "Tsarina" was held in 2008 at the Alexandrinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and then in Moscow State Kremlin Palace. In 2010 the opera had a great success at the Bolshoi Theatre and then toured more than 30 thousand kilometers from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok. More than 40,000 spectators saw this opera at the 15 regional theater venues in seven federal districts. "Tsarina" was consistently sold out and had a huge success among the public in the regional centers, where not a single opera was on tour since 1980s.

People's Artist of Russia David Tukhmanov, People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Bertman, Chairman of FC "URALSIB" Nikolai Tsvetkov, Chairman of the Tsvetkov Family Foundation - "META" Education Fund - Valentina Sigayeva, Deputy Artistic Director of "Helikon-opera" Viktoria Pavlova took part in a solemn ceremony of handing over “Tsarina” opera. Guests of honor were the first performer of the role of Empress Catherine the Great soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre, deputy of the State Duma Maria Maksakova and the first performer of Prince Potemkin, People's Artist of Russia Yuri Vedeneev.

Dmitry Bertman thanked Nikolai Tsvetkov: "This is truly a unique phenomenon in our time, the continuation of traditions of Mamontov, Savva Morozov and Tretyakov. A year of culture started for us in 2008, five years before the nationwide, and still continues. Nikolai Alexandrovich idea was educational. It was the first opera tour in Russia after perestroyka... We love the show very much and we are grateful to everyone who takes part in it".

In his turn, the head of "Uralsib" corporation Nikolai Tsvetkov said: "The team that makes the show is unique. I felt a sense of pride for our country and for our people, for the truth of our history - it is different , but honest...".

In a festive atmosphere on stage of "Helikon-opera" Nikolai Tsvetkov handed over the certificate to the "Tsarina" opera to Dmitry Bertman.

Since February 17 performance of "Tsarina” can independently exist in Helikon-opera’s repertoire.
