On November 28-30, December 1 the second series of premiere performance of "Un ballo in Maschera" by G. Verdi, staged by Dmitry Bertman, will be presented on stage of "Helikon-opera". The premiere was held on the 5th September 2013 and started WAGNER/VERDI festival, which took place in "Helikon-opera" in September and October.

The theater dedicated this festival to a double bicentennial of the great contemporaries. Festival’s playbill consisted of Wagner and Verdi operas from theatre’s repertoire. The first two performances of “Un ballo in maschera” were conducted by Maestro Simone Fermani, the only living direct descendant of Giuseppe Verdi.

For Dmitry Bertman, the director of the play, "Un ballo in Maschera" opera is about the main passions, the two "drugs" that attract almost anyone - power and love. The heart of intrigue is a secret political plot in which love becomes a bargaining chip. The governor is interested in the wife of his friend, the second person in the state. From this passion conspirators inflated the whole story, and turned the absolutely faithful supporter into oppositionist. Ultimately, it is a spectacle not only about conspiracy, betrayal and forgiveness , but also about how society has changed.

People's Artist of Russia Natalia Zagorinskaya, Honored Artist of Russia Anna Grechishkina, Elena Mikhaylenko, Anna Pegova, Irina Reynard, Maria Maskhulia, Alexandra Kovalevich, Lydia Svetozarova, Honored Artist of Russia Vadim Zaplechny and Andrew Vylegzhanin, Maxim Paster, Dmitry Ponomarev, Alexey Isaev, Maxim Perebeinos, Alexei Dedov, Dmitry Yankovskiy, Mikhail Vylegzhanin, Dmitry Skorikov, Dmitry Ovchinnikov and others are engaged in the performances.
