Maria Maksakova sang Carmen on “Helikon-opera” stage
On the 20th of June the Deputy of the State Duma of Federal Council of Russian Federation Maria Maksakova, the heiress of tradition of a famous artictic family, sang Carmen in summer series of “Carmen”.
The performance was staged by the artistic director of “Helikon-opera” theatre Dmitry Bertman in 1996 and roused a wide resonance among the spectators and critics. Some didn’t accept his interpretation, other met it with great enthusiasm, because Dmitry Bertman didn’t step back from the musical dramaturgy of this eternal opera masterpiece.
The performance was awarded with Russian National Theatre Award “The Golden Mask” (1996) in two nominations: for the best work of a director in musical theatre and for the best female role. Time put everything into its places. Helikon’s “Carmen” became classics. For the past years it is one of the most popular Helikon’s” performances, which is always in great demand among public.
The performance was shown around the world, in leading opera theatres and festivals of France and Spain. The public of UK, Israel, Azerbaidjan, Lebanon, Estonia and Hungary applauded to it.
