"Helikon-opera" came back form its Lebanese tour
“Helikon-opera” took part in the Mediterranean music forum for the 14th time. This year the tour was organised with the support of teh Depaertment of Culture of Moscow. “Helikon-opera” artists like visiting Lebanon, because of the traditional eastern hospitality, the beauty of the Lebanese land and unusually warm atmosphere of the festival.
For the performance in Beirut the theatre prepared special Wagner’s program. On the 8th of March “Das Liebesverbot” performance was shown. The Honoured Artists of Russia Ekaterina Oblezova and Anatoly Ponomarev, soloists Elena Mikhailenko, Irina Samoilova, Karina A. Flores, Vladimir Bolotin, Alexey Dedov, Ali Magomedov, Dmitry Ovchinnikov, Dmitry Ponomarev, Dmitry Skorikov and Dmitry Yankovsky took part in the show.
On the 9th of March, a gala-concert “WagnerUnleashed” was held. The most striking and famous fragments of the composer’s works were included. Elena Mikhailenko, who perfromed the leading female part: Ada’s aria from “Die Feen”, Isabella and marianna’s duet from “Das Liebesverbot”, Senta’s ballade from “Der Fliegende Hollander”, Elisabeth’s aria from “Tannhauser”, Lohengrin and Elsa’s duet from the “Lohengrin, Isolda’s death from “Tristan and Isolde”, Siegfried and Brunhilde’s scene from “Siegfried”, received the special acknowledgement of the public.
Irina Samoilova, Ali Magomedov, Dmitry Ponomarev and Dmitry Skorikov also took part in the concert. Maestro Vladimir Ponkin was at the conductor’s stand.
On the 12th of March in Beirut’s principal orthodox cathedral artists of chorus of “Helikon-opera” performed “Vespers” by S. Rakhmaninov and other works of sacred music. Beirut’s Orthodox Metropolitan Ilia and hierarchs of other Christian confessions of Lebanon visited the concert. The chief choirmaster of the theatre conducted the concert.
