The premiere of "Faust" in Dmitry Bertman's production in "Estonia" National Opera

On the 20th of September the premiere performance of "Faust" by Charles Gounod's opera staged by artistic director of "Helikon-Opera" People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Bertman will be held at "Estonia" National Opera. Music director of the performance is the eminent Estonian conductor Vello Pahn. Designer - Ene-Liis Semper from Tallinn Theater NO 99. Choreographer is the permanent Bertman’s coauthor Edvald Smirnov. Among the performers are Luc Robert (tenor), a Canadian, who worked with Dmitry Bertman in the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto. Polish soprano Joanna Frezel won the role of Margarita in 2011 as the Special Prize of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition in Austria, in which Dmitry Bertman has been the member of the jury for many years. The cast also include Anne Wik Larssen, Helen Lokuta, Julia Lyle, Priit Volmer, Rauno Elp, Oliver Kuusik, Art Madiste, March Laur, Paul Balakin, Priit Volmer, Urmas Poldmaa, Aare Saal, Mart Jacobson, chorus and orchestra of the "Estonia" National Opera. On the 18th, 20th, 24th and 26th of October Mephistopheles will be performed by the world famous Estonian bass Ain Anger.
Dmitry Bertman has been cooperating with "Estonia" National Opera for a long time, producing several plays. For the production of antifascist "Wallenberg" opera by Estonian composer Erkki-Sven-Tuur Estonian President awarded Dmitry Bertman with the Order of St. Mary Land (Cross Maaryama) IV degree and the State Prize of Estonia (2008).
"Helikon-Opera" theatre is also tied with its Baltic neighbor by close working relationship. "Helikon" toured with performances and concert programs at the “Estonia” National Opera, took part in "Birgitta” festival for the six times. This summer, the theater was the main guest of the international music festival "Days of Opera" on the Estonian island of Saaremaa.
