On August 27 a new twenty-third season was opened in Moscow Musical Theatre "Helikon-Opera". The Head of the Department of Culture of Moscow Sergey Kapkov, Deputy head of the Department of Culture of Moscow Evgeny Shermeneva, Head of department on work with creative groups of the Department of Culture of Moscow Natalia Drozhnikova came to congratulate the theatre at this solemn day.
In his opening speech Sergey Kapkov warmly greeted the audience, appreciated achievements of theater artists and wished them further success.
Artistic Director of "Helikon-opera" People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Bertman summed up the events of the last season and announced plans for the future.
In the 23th season the theater will continue to perform in a temporary hall on Novy Arbat pending completion of its historic scene on B. Nikitskaya, 19 which is supported by the Government of Moscow.
It has become a good tradition that "Helikon" opens the season with the performances on City Day of Moscow. This year, on September 1st, soloist s of "Helikon-Opera" will take part in a grand concert of classical and jazz music at Poklonnaya Hill, which will be held in the framework of the 8th Moscow "Worship" Festival. On the same day the young soloists Lydia Svetozarov and Vadim Letunov will perform in festive program organized by the Museum of Musical Culture named after Glinka in Sokolniki. On Sept. 2 at 18 pm on Pushkin Square "Helikon-Revue" with soloists, chorus and orchestra of the theater will be presented in the context of the program "Moscow Broadway".
On September 12 soloists of "Helikon-Opera" will take part in the grand concert at the Kiev National Operetta Theatre, at the opening of Moscow Days in Kiev. On September 13 at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine leading soloists of "Helikon-Opera" will represent the Russian side in the gala concert "Duet of the two capitals". People's Artist of Russia Vladimir Ponkin and his Ukrainian colleague will conduct the program performed by Ukrainian and Russian soloists.
From Kiev "Helikon-Opera" artists will travel to Khanty-Mansiysk, where on September 14 they will perform a concert on stage of the Organ Hall of "Ugra-Classic" concert and theatrical centre. On September 15 the premiere of the «Back in the USSR!» will be played to mark the 20th anniversary of the Khanty-Mansiysk Bank. The Moscow audience will see the performance only on September 28. And on September 19 "Helikon" artists are awaited in Rostov-on-Don with Tukhmanov’s opera "Tsarina". The performance will take place on stage of Rostov Musical Theatre with the support of the governor of the Rostov region.
On September 28 in "Helikon on the Arbat" (Moscow) the premiere of the «Back in the USSR!» will transport the audience to the "golden age" of Soviet songs. In the new performance of "Helikon-Opera" the songs by Isaac Dunaevskiy, Vasily Solovyov-Sedoy, Nikita Bogoslovsky, Matvey Blanter, Boris Mokrousov, Tikhon Khrennikov, Yuri Milutin and Anatoly Lepin will be pesented and the song by Paul McCartney will be an epigraph of the performance. Artistic director of the production - Dmitry Bertman, director - Ilya Ilyin, choreographer - Edwald Smirnov, musical director - Konstantin Chudovsky, set and costumes - Igor Nezhny and Tatiana Tulubieva. Premiere will be held on the28, 29, Sept. 30, 4, 5 and 6 October 2012 in "Helikon-Opera in Arbat ".
Already at the end of October the theater scheduled another premiere - "Kalmania", dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Emmerich Kalman.
On January 2013 the premiere theatrical gala presentation "Flight of the Nibelungen" after the music of Richard Wagner. Director - Dmitry Bertman, music director - Vladimir Ponkin.
In April, the theater will celebrate his birthday on a special program to mark the 100th anniversary of the composer Tikhon Khrennikov.
On October 2 at the "Eldar" club and film centre "Mozart and Salieri” will be played. This is how “Helikon-opera” congratulates the great friend of the theater film director Eldar Ryazanov. On December 3rd "Cartoon-opera" will be shown at the same stage.
In October the artists of "Helikon-Opera" will give a concert in honor of the opening of New York office of UTair airline, a longtime partner of the theater.
On November 21 a stage version of Mozart's "La Clemenza di Tito" will be held on stage of Svetlanovsky Hall of Moscow International House of Music. The premiere of the play in "Helikon-Opera" production was held in the ancient theater in Merida, Spain. In Russia it was shown only once, in 2006, at the Concert Hall of the Tchaikovsky, which for the occasion was lined pool.
In November, the theater's artists will take part in the filming of the "Romance Romance" TV channel "Culture", dedicated to the "Helikon-Opera".
This season will continue on tour of the play "The Queen" in Russian cities, organized by the Charity Fund Education "Meta" with the support of the Financial Corporation "Uralsib". September 19 "The Queen" will be shown in Rostov-on-Don on the stage of the Rostov State Musical Theatre. The tour will be held under the patronage of the Governor of the Rostov region. In 2013, March 23, "The Queen" will be played out on the stage of Yekaterinburg Opera and Ballet. The plans of the theater and the Foundation "META" - Baku and Novosibirsk.
In October soloists will participate in the Days of Moscow in Astrakhan.
From 6 to 13 March 2013 "Helikon" is taking part in "Al Bustan" festival in Lebanon for the fourteenth time, where its premiere show "Das Liebesverbot" and "The Flight of the Nibelung" will be shown, and Maestro Vladimir Ponkin will give a master class for students of the Lebanese National Conservatory . The tour will take place with the financial support of the Department of Culture of Moscow.
Finally, the audience sang "Mnogaya Leta", which traditionally opens every season of "Helikon-Opera".
