“KLASsnaya opera” in “Helikon-opera”

On the 23rd of February Moscow musical theatre “Helikon-opera” under Dmitry Bertman will perform “KLASsnaya OPERA” concert program with Eri Klas, soloists of chorus and orchestra of the theatre.

Before the beginning of the concert Artistic Director of “Helikon-opera” Dmitry Bertman told: “Today we congratulate all the defenders of our homeland, both those, who defended it earlier and those who defend it today. They can defend in different ways. Soldiers, politicians, builders and musicians - they all defend, including those, who play here in the orchestra, who sing here. We defend our culture, our moral values. We are all defenders.

The 23rd of February is traditionally celebrated in our theatre with a concert, which is called “Devichnik”. Only the fair sex takes part in the concert. They sing for their men, they congratulate their defenders. But today our evening is unusual, because the orchestra will be managed by the famous conductor Estonian Eri Klas. Eri Klas defended our homeland during USSR times. Now he is a genuine ambassador of culture of his country, because it is him, who keeps the ties between Russia and Estonia, despite all the events. Culture and music are 90% of their collaboration today. Our theatre is closely connected with Estonia, we play performances on almost every Estonian music festival, we perform on stage of National Opera. Estonian singers enter Helikon’s stage, I guess, the only stage in Russia open for them. And we always glad to see them. We support the connection between the two countries, who have common culture and common music. Today we present the concert program, which is called “KLASsnaya OPERA’ in honour of maestro Eri Klas, our friend, brilliant conductor and musician and a very-very nice person”.

The Honoured Artists of Russia Marina Andreyeva, Anna Grechishkina, Marina Karpechenko, Larisa Kostiuk, laureates of international contests Maria Maskhulia, Elena Mikhailenko, Elena Semenova, Elizaveta Chudovskaya, Karina Flores and the female part of the chorus performed the scenes from P. I. Tchaikovsky, G. Bizet, G. Verdi, G. Gershwin, J. Offenbach, R. Strauss. Conductor Eri Klas, director of the program Dmitry Bertman.

Actor of cinema and theatre The People’s Artist of RSFSR, The People’s Artist of Ukraine Alexander Goloborod’ko took part in the concert. Eri Klas and Alexander Goloborod’ko both took part in the shooting of “The Last Relic” historical film bu G. Kromanov about the medieval Estonia, where Alexander Goloborod’ko played the main part and Eri Klas participated in the recording of music. In 1971 the film became the leader of the distribution in the USSR, gathering 45 millions of spectators. Alexander Goloborod’ko performed “The Prayer” by Bulat Okudzhava.
