"Helikon-Opera" tour to Vladivostok

On the 5th and 6th of October Moscow Music Theatre "Helikon-Opera" under Dmitry Bertman performed "Tsarina" by D. Tukhmanov on stage of Primorsky regional drama theatre named after M. Gorky. The tour was organized by META Enlightment Charity Fund under support of Uralsib Financial Corporation.

The grandiose performance after a Russian history topic, which unites genre features of a classical opera and a musical, was already shown to the spectators in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Krasnodar, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara and Krasnoyarsk. For the last twenty years this is the first scale tour of Moscow opera theatre to regions.

The part of the main female character, Catherine the Great, was represented by three singers, who own different voices, which upon the opinion of the authors, reflects the character of Catherine the Great in different periods of her life and rule.

The part of Duchess Catherine, an empress in her youth, was performed by Elena Semenova, who owns a unique beautiful voice and unusual actor’s cathching. Elena Semenova is a student of famous singer and a vocal coach Irina Maslennikova, Elena is a winner of different international prizes and, besides Helikon’s stage, she performs on the best stages of France, Germany, Italy and Canada.  Catherine II was performed by dramatical soprano Elena Mikhailenko, a student of Rusanna Lisitsian, Elena is a laureate of Russian and international vocal contests.

A part of Empress Catherine the Great was performed by a native of Vladivostok, a student of Galina Vishnevskaya, soprano Inna Zvenyatskaya, who is a talented actor besides. Catherine’s favourites were portrayed by Vadim Zaplechny, Mikhail Guzhov, Peter Morozov, Andrey Vylegzhanin, Dmitry Khromov. Gustav the IVth part was performed by Oleg Ryabets, owner of a rare male soprano voice. Other roles were performed by Alexandra Kovalevich, Marina Kalinina, Andrey Palamarchuk, Alexander Miminoshwili, Andrey Reichel, artists of the famous “dancing” choir of the theatre. Conucductor was a laureate of youth Triumph theatre prize Konstantin Chudovsky. The public of Primorye accepted Helikon’s artists with enthusiasm. “Tsarina” was also honoured with the presence of the leadership of the region.

The shows in Vladivostok ended “Tsarina”-2011 tour. The plans for the next year will be announced in the nearest future.
Meanwhile,  in Moscow, in “Helikon-Opera” theatre the work under R. Wagner’s the only comic opera “Das Liebesverbot” was continuing. The premiere of this performance in Dmitry Bertman’s production is scheduled for the 26th of October 2011.
