Helikon-Opera performed at Poklonnaya gora

On the 3rd September Moscow musical theatre “Helikon-Opera” under Dmitry Bertman performed a concert, devoted to the Memory day of the victims of terror. The concert took place at Poklonnaya gora in Moscow and was held in the text of the Day of the City of Moscow.

Stage director of the concert was the People’s Artist of Russia Dmitry Bertman. The orchestra was conducted by the People’s Artists of Russia Vladimir Ponkin and Eugene Brazhnik. The choirmaster was the Honoured Artist of Russia Denis Kirpanev. The stars of “Helikon-Opera” People’s Artist of Russia Natalia Zagorinskaya, the Honoured Artists fo Russia Ksenia Viaznikova, Marina Karpechenko, Larisa Kostiuk, Vadim Zaplechny, Sergey Toptygin, laureates of the international contests Elena Mikhailenko, Pavel Bykov, Mikhail Guzhov, Alexander Kiselev, Stanislav Shvets, artists if the choir of the theatre.

The unique program of the show consisted of the masterpieces of choir and opera music. Soloist of the theatre Viacheslav Starodubtsev cited excerpts from Robert Rozhdestvensky’s “Requiem”. Patriotic arias and parts from Russian classical operas by M. Glinka, A. Borodin, P. Tchaikovsky, S. Prokofiev were performed in the first part of the concert. Second part consisted of arias from operas by G. Verdi, V. Bellini, G. Puccini.

This evening many people besides the opera lovers gathered under the open sky at Poklonnaya gora, the sacred place for all the inhabitants of multinational Russia. Despite the cold weather the seats were occupied. Ovations were heard after each number of the concert. Nobody left, despite the rain.

The spectators were awarded by the rare performed “Hymn of the Nations”, a cantata, which unites hymns of European countries at its score, a symbol of the union of all people of good will in the fight with world’s terrorism.
