"Helikon-Opera" at "Brno Janacek 2010" festival
The International festival "Brno Janacek" in Brno (The Czech Republic) opened with "Vec Makropoulos" ("The Makropoulos Case") by "Helikon-Opera" on the 16th of November.
The young festival is called to fill in the empty space at Czech festival map and to tie in people's minds the name of world famous composer with the name of the city, where he spent the biggest part of his life and created his most significant works. This year bienalle "Brno Janacek" took place for the second time. "Helikon-Opera" became the honoured guest of the festival. The program included "Jenufa", "Excursion of Mr Brouček on the Moon" (choreography by Jiri Kylian) by National Theatre of Brno, "Lulu" by A. Berg (production by Essen Theatre, Germany), performances by chamber collectives from The Czech Republic and Europe.
The premiere of "Helikon-Opera" performance took place in June 2003. Helikon-Opera was the first theatre in Russia, which introduced the wonderful music of "Vec Makropoulos" by Leos Janacek to Russian spectators. The stage director of the performance - Dmitry Bertman, musical director - Gennady Rozhdestvensky, set and costume designers - Igor Nezhny and Tatiana Tulubieva.
On the 16th of November Natalia Zagorinskaya, Dmitry Khromov, Sergey Yakovlev, Dmitry Skorikov, Andrey Palamarchuk, Marina Kalinina, Ilya Ilin, Mikhail Seryshev, Dmitry Ovchinnikov, Marina Karpechenko, Ekaterina Oblezova and Yuri Ustiugov performed with success on stage of historical Golden Hall of Mahen Theatre in Brno, one of the most beautiful city buildings. Vladimir Ponkin was at the conductor's stand. Director of The National Theatre in Brno Daniel Dvořák and General Consul of Russian Federation in Brno Valery Dergachev said the greeting words before the performance.
