The premiere of "Andrea Chenier"  in Swedish Royal Opera

On the 22nd of October the premiere of the "Andrea Chenier" opera by U. Giordano in Helikon-Opera's Artistic Director Dmitry Bertman's production will take place on stage of Swedish Royal Opera (Stockholm).

Conductor, an Italian Pierre Giorgio Morandi, a pupil of Leonard Bernstein and Seggio Ozawa, an assistant of Riccardo Mutti during the work of the latter in La Scala, who performed with Academy of Santa Cecilia orchestra in Rome, with Bavarian radio orchestra, with London Philharmonic orchestra, Tokyo philharmonic orchestra. The roles are performed by the Swedish opera stars: Madeleine de Coigny - Katarina Dalayman, Andrea Chenier - tenor Lars Cleveman. Both are the outstanding performers of Wagner parts, but in verists' repertoire they try themselves for the first time. An English singer Jeremy Carpenter performs Gerard. Set design by Hartmut Schörghofer, choreography by Edwald Smirnov - the permanent coauthors of Dmitry Bertman.

Giordano’s opera, not seen at the Royal Swedish Opera since 1909, is a broad fresco of the French Revolution, its hopes and horrors, depicted in powerful, vivid images with a gallery of captivating characters. Opera brightly depicts how the state's transformations literally crush the destinies of intellectuals, which sadly has something in common with nowadays events at Dmitry Bertman's homeland.
