“Tsarina” in Bolshoi theatre


“Tsarina” opera by D. Tukhmanov in Dmitry Bertman's production, performed by the artists of “Helikon-Opera” theatre, took place on the 21st and 22nd of July on New stage of Bolshoi theatre of Russia. The project was organized by META Enlightment Fund and URALSIB finance company.


Larisa Kostiuk and Ksenia Viaznikova (Empress Catherine the Great), Elena Ionova and Elena Mikhailenko (Catherine II), Maya Barkovskaya and Elena Semenova (Duchess Catherine), Vadim Zaplechny and Dmitry Ponomarev (Count Grigory Orlov), Mikhail Guzhov and Alexander Kiselev (Nikita Panin), Peter Morozov (Grigory Potemkin), People’s Artist of Russia Yuri Vedeneev (Prince Potemkin-Tavrichesky), Vasily Efimov (Platon Zubov), Alexandra Kovalevich (Countess Brius, General’s wife Liven), Anna Grechishkina and Irina Samoilova (Alexandrina), Oleg Ryabets (Gustav IV), Andrey Palamarchuk (1st Guard, 1st Ambassador)   Пётр Морозов (Григорий Потёмкин), Alexander Miminoshwili (2nd Guard, 2nd Ambassador), Andrey Reichel (Peter III), artists of the choir and orchestra of “Helikon-Opera” theatre. Conductor (Konstantin Chudovsky).


Before that “Tsarina” was shown on stage of Alexandrinsky theatre of Saint-Petersburg, State Kremlin Palace, Krasnodar Musical Theatre, Bashkir State Theatre of Opera and Ballet. In a year after the first night the performance was shown on stage of Bolshoi theatre of Russia.


Despite the holiday season and extremely hot weather the house was full. On the 21st of June among the guests were the Ambassador of Spain in Russia Juan Antonio Marc Pujol, the Ambassador of South Korea Lee Yun Kho, Lev Leschenko, Eduard Artemiev, Oleg Mityaev, Dmitry Krylov and many others.


On the 22nd of June the Head of the Department of Culture of Moscow Sergey Khudiakov, the leadership and workers of URALSIB finance corporation, clients and partners of the company, governors of Russian regions and many other VIP guests visited the performance.


Both days the spectators were warmly receiving the show, applauding after each scene. They were also making a standing ovation after each performance. The big part of the applauding on the first day was addressed to David Tukmanov, who celebrated his 70th birthday on the 20th of July. David Fedorovich received gifts from “Helikon-Opera” and the artists sang “Mnogaya Leta” in his honour.
