"Helikon-Opera" in Karelia


On the 20th and 21st of May Moscow Musical Theatre "Helikon-Opera" under Dmitry Bertman will show "Gershwin-Gala" and "Kalinka-Opera" performances on International Festival of Arts "White NIghts of Karelia".


The festival in Petrozavodsk takes place for the 6th time, the organizers are the Ministry of Culture of Karelia Republic and Karelian State Philharmony. In the meantime the event became "musical business card of the Republic". Traditionally, the musicians of a very high level are taking part in the festival, and this is the merit of its Artistic Director Viktor Gorin. This year the program is devoted to the 90th anniverary since formation of Karelian Republic. This year such musicians as Saulus Sondetskis, Boris Andrianov (violoncello), Denis Shapovalov (violoncello), Sergey Roldugin, Dora Schwarzberg (violin, Austria), Katia Skanavi (piano), Mark Scheikhet (violin, USA), Dmitry Illarionov (guitar), Miroslav Kultyshev (piano), Pavel Milukov (violin) and others.


On the 20th of May "Helikon-Opera" will show opera-jazz show "Gershwin-Gala" upon the motives of George Gershwin works (stage director Dmitry Bertman, conductor Vladimir Ponkin, choreographer Edwald Sminov, set and costume designers Tatiana Tulubieva and Igor Nezhny). Both performances have great success and are played specially to create good mood.


On the 5th of May in the context of the festival soloists of "Helikon-Opera" Irina Samoilova and Peter Morozov took part in "War Songs" concert, devoted to 65th anniversary since the Victory Day in II World War.
