The premiere of “Tsarina” performance in Saint-Petersburg
On the 22nd and 23rd of July the premiere of D. Tukhmanov's "Tsarina" took place in Alexandrinsky theatre of Saint-Petersburg.

Choreographer – laureate of international contests Edwald Smirnov
Author of idea – People’s Artist of Russia Lev Leschenko
The production took place upon the support of META Fund of Enlightenment.
The following soloists of “Helikon-Opera” took part in the performance: Honoured Artists of Russia Ksenia Viaznikova, Larisa Kostiuk, Elena Ionova, Nikolay Dorozhkin, Vadim Zaplechny, Elena Guschina, laureates of international contests Maria Maksakova, Vasily Efimov, Elena Mikhailenko, Elena Semenova, Dmitry Ponomarev, Mikhail Guzhov, Alexander Kiselev, Pavel Bykov, Peter Morozov, Mikhail Verbitsky, Svetlana Rossiyskaya, Anna Grechishkina, Marina Kalinina. A soloist of Bolshoi theatre of Russia People’s Artist of Russia Yuri Vedeneev performed as a Prince Potemkin-Tavrichesky, and Gustav IV the King was performed by famous male soprano Oleg Riabets.
The chorus of “Helikon-Opera” made a great impression. “To watch the stage is a real pleasure. Especially impressive are the dynamic mass scenes (choreographer Edwald Smirnov). Helikon’s chorus (choirmaster Denis Kirpanev) is working at a level of the best Broadway shows, besides, their singing is perfect.” (Maria Babalova, “Izvestia” newspaper, 26.07.2009)
The artists of orchestra of “Helikon-Opera” under conducting baton of Konstantin Chudovski also performed brilliantly. The work of technical staff of the theatre was amazing, although they worked with such scale decorations and complicated costumes for the first time.
The premiere of “Tsarina” made a wide resonance in the circles of politics, businessmen and theatrical society. In the cosy Alexandrinsky hall, both days filled, were the Governor of Saint-Petersburg, the Patron of “The Club of Friends of “Helikon-Opera” Valentina Matvienko, the Chairman of the Committee of Culture of Saint-Petersburg Anton Gubankov, the Senator and the co-Chairman of “The Club of Friend of “Helikon-Opera” Natalia Dementieva, the members of Law Committee of Saint-Petersburg.
Among the spectators wereIgor Korneliuk, Alexander Druz, Eduard Hil, Albert Assadulin, Yuri Entin and other representatives of theatrical society of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.
The Moscow’s premiere of “Tsarina” will take place on the 25th and 26th of November 2009 on stage of State Kremlin Palace.
