The theatre's birthday

On the 10th, 11th and 12th of April "Helikon-Opera" celebrated its traditional holiday - the Theatre's birthday. On those days soloists, choir and orchestra, who performed "Kalinka" - the program of Russian folk songs, greeted numerous guests. People's artist of Russia Natalia Zagorinskaya, the Honoured Artists of Russia Marina Andreyeva, Ksenia Viaznikova, Larisa Kostiuk, Andrey Vylegzhanin, Nikolay Dorozhkin, soloists Irina Samoilova, Elena Semenova, Mikhail Verbitsky, Alexey Dedov, Vasily Efimov, Petro Morozov, Ekaterina Trebeleva, artists of choir and orchestra took part in the celebration. The choirmaster the Honoured Artist of Russia Denis Kirpanev, conductor Konstantin Chudovsky. Friends and constant spectators came to congratulate the theatre this evening, among them were Olga Efimenko, Ekaterina Kushnir, Rozetta Nemchinskaya, Marina Ogloblina, Larisa Riabchenko, Tatiana Senatorova, Svetlana Sorokina, Lubov Stepanova, Irina Stoliarenko, Irina Petukhova, Tatiana Revzina, Irina and Mikhail Kasyanovs, Irina and Vladimir Kleymenovs, Tatiana and Pavel Liadovs, Igor Bugaev, Vladimir Grandel, Vladimir Zubarev, Nikolay Kushlinsky, Alexey Kozyrev, Valery Evseev.

In May 2009 artists showed "Kalinka" in the International Al Bustan festival in Beirut (Lebanon). But due to celebration the program was enlarged, and some of the soloists even added some dance to their performing. Conductor Konstantin Chudovsky prepared special arrangements of Russian and Gypsy songs and costume designer Tatiana Tulubieva arranged orignal costumes.

The Artistic Director of "Helikon-Opera" Dmitry Bertman specially returned to Moscow from Stockholm, where he is producing "The Queen of Spades" on stage of the Swedish Royal opera, to congratulate his beloved artists with the holiday.
