To the opening of the 18th season


On the 20th of August the presentation of the 18th season was held in “Helikon in Arbat”. Artistic director of “Helikon-Opera” Dmitry Bertman told about the future plans of the theatre and handed the diplomas with the list of all parts played during the year to every artist. The Honoured Artist of Russia Andrey Vylegzhanin became the record-holder: he participated in 61 performance.



223 performances were played during the past season, two of them were the premieres: “Boris Godunov” by M.P. Moussorgsky in D. D. Shostakovich edition and “Il barbiere di Siviglia” by G. Rossini. The performances were played in 42 venues both in Russia and abroad. 11 tours were held.


Soloists of the theatre Marina Karpechenko, Andrey Vylegzhanin and Nikolay Dorozhkin received the “Honoured Artists of Russia” titles. Honoured Artist of Russia Alisa Gitsba received the “People’s Artist of Republic of Abkhasia”. Chief accountant of the theatre Marina Vozhakina received “The Honoured Worker of Culture of Moscow” title. 


The Chief of the Department of Culture of Moscow Sergey Khudiakov came to congratulate the theatre.

The new season 2007/2008 will be opened by “Le Nozze di Figaro” opera by W. A. Mozart (26th, 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th September). The plans of the theatre include the joint production of “Perikola” operetta by J. Offenbach together with the Moscow Music Hall. Dmitry Bertman explained the reference to operetta genre: “…when the repertoire of Moscow theatres is excessively dramatized, we would like to appeal to easy genre and create the qualitative and successful performance and make public to enjoy it instead of trying to understand the conception”.


It is also planned to finish the Beaumarchais’ trilogy with “Cherubin” by J. Massenet.


The tour plans of “Helikon-Opera” include Cyprus, Sicily, France, Lebanon, Estonia and Hungary. The big tour will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia).
