Be ready to have fun!

On the 22nd of May in the Big Hall of "Helikon-Opera" in Nikitskaya People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Bertman, the Artistic Director of our theatre, hold a meeting with the vocalists in connection with the beginning of production of "Il barbiere di Siviglia" by G. Rossini.

He began with the statement that "Il barbiere di Siviglia" is one of the beloved operas in Russia. "For me it is the first one, because for a very long time I have been feared to stage it and only now I am starting its production. Comic opera is a very complicated genre. I would like this performance to contain a lot of fun and have a good acting in the very best sense of this word, I would like it to be a very beautiful and light performance".

Helping Dmitry Bertman's ideas to come to life Tatiana Tulubieva and Igor Nezhny, set and costume designers, invented the complicated, but at the same time light and transparent decorations, as well as the costumes in "commedia dell'arte" style.

Lots of surprises are in store for spectators. Dmitry Alexandrovich made some hints: the characters will not only be singing on stage (at that not always in Italian), but sometimes playing rare musical instruments. For those females who wish to perform Cherubino Dmitry Bertman advised to eat a lot and put on weight. We can only guess how Figaro is going to look like.

"Le nozze di Figaro" is a September premiere of the new 18th season. It will be a peculiar continuation of "Il barbiere di Siviglia", however, the action will take place in another circumstances and in another costumes accordingly. The main characters will be the same, but just like in series the substitutes of the performers are possible.

The nearest plans of the theatre is to finish the comic trilogy upon Beaumarchais works with staging "Cherubino" by J. Massenet.
