Happy birthday, Helikon!


On the 10th of April the first concert from the series of festive events on the occasion of seventeenth birthday of "Helikon-Opera" was held. The most famous and performed Russian songs and romances, classical works of Russian composers were in the program.


The leading soloists of "Helikon-Opera" Honoured Artists of Russia Marina Andreeva, Alisa Gitsba, Ekaterina Oblezova, Vadim Zaplechny, Sergey Yakovlev, soloists Ksenia Viaznikova, Anna Grechishkina, Marina Kalinina, Maria Maksakova, Maria Maskhulia, Svetlana Rosiyskaya, Elena Semenova, Irina Samoilova, Andrey Vylegzhanin, Mikhail Guzhov, Alexey Dedov, Nikolay Dorozhkin, Alexander Kiselev, Peter Morozov, Mikhail Nikanorov, Dmitry Ovchinnikov, Andrey Serov, Mikhail Seryshev, Dmitry Skorikov, Dmitry Ponomarev, Alexey Tikhomirov, choir and orchestra of the theatre took part in the concert. Honoured Artist of Russia Denis Kirpanev was conducting the event.


All artists made a great play with their parts: "Solovey" ("A Nightingale") by S. Alabyev interpreted by Marina Andreyeva, Anna Grechishkina and Irina Samoilova was one of the best.


The pleasant surprise of the evening were several jazz standarts, performed by a saxofonist Alexander Novikov and a soloist Maria Maskhulia.


The spectators hit the roof after the concert. The artists were encored and a famous "Kalinka" was performed by Vadim Zaplechny, Nikolay Dorozhkin, Dmitry Ponomarev (solo), and all participants of the concerts, chorus and even spectators joined in this song.


As it is supposed during the fest, everybody was offered refreshments. Artists and workers of the theatre communicated, greeted each other and sang "Mnogaya leta" ("Long live") song to their favourite Helikon and its Artistic Director Dmitry Bertman. Dmitry Alexandrovich congratulated the collective of the theatre with the help of loudspeakers in mobile telephone.
