FIRST TOUR OF HELIKON-OPERA THEATER IN CHUKOTKA

On August 16 and 17, the first tour of the Helikon Opera Theater under the direction of People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Bertman took place in Anadyr. The performances were within the program The Cultural Pole, as part of the project Gudym — Arctic Sound, with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.

The program included great gala concerts, master classes for children from leading musicians and artists of our country, an exhibition of authentic masterpieces by Marc Chagall, Erté (Roman Tyrtov), Valery Kungurov and Tatiana Tulubyeva.

Helikon artists performed world-famous opera hits as part of the gala concerts in sets inspired by the amazing land and culture of Chukotka. Many residents of Anadyr heard the opera live for the first time and accepted it with great enthusiasm and delight! In two days, more than 800 people visited the concerts, and for those who could not arrive in person the broadcast of the event was organized in the Helikon-opera community on VKontakte.

Special attention in the tour program was paid to meetings with young talents of Anadyr. Vocal, piano and choreography master classes with leading representatives of the music industry were organized for them.

Elena Sosulnikova, the pianist of the Helikon-opera, and Yulia Nikanorova, the soloist of the theater, shared their professional experiences with students of the local music school and the choreographer Ksenia Lisanskaya helped the children learn a new dance style and get in touch with their bodies. We saw how the children drunk in every word, movement, advice and we understood that The Cultural Pole is capable to open new horizons and to inspire to big dreams!

A special event was the performance of Orthodox sacred music at Holy Trinity Cathedral, the largest wooden Orthodox church in the world built in the permafrost region. The concert featured works by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Mussorgsky and other composers.

This tour to Chukotka, the first in the history of the theater and the district itself, took place thanks to the invaluable help of Olesya Bulgakova, President of the Charitable Foundation Zov, Vladislav Kuznetsov, Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Alexandra Chaikina, General Director of the Foundation for the Development of Tourism, Interregional and International Projects, and Yulia Boykova, Deputy General Director of the Foundation.

We express our profound gratitude and thanks for the ideologic impulse, fruitful collaboration, sincere faith in this project, immense hospitality and for making the impossible possible!
