Dmitry Bertman has staged the opera «Eugene Onegin» in Tokyo!
This year the international music day became very special for our theatre – on October, 1 in the New National Theatre Tokyo with the phenomenal success took place the premiere of the opera “Eugene Onegin” staged by Dmitry Bertman.
The enormous hall was clapping to the actors, musicians, creators of the show. And not by accident – in the Land of the Rising Sun is a very special respect to the Russian composer. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is adored here and the production of the Russian opera by the famous Russian director has aroused keen interest of the music lovers.
“This is the 9th production of the opera “Eugene Onegin” in my life, I have bben staging it all over the world, - says Dmitry Bertman. – The “Eugene Onegin” production in the main opera house of Japan – is the grandiose event!”.
The helikonians are joining the Tokyo public and congratulating Dmitry Bertman with a premiere of a wonderful performance. We are very proud, that in the faraway Japan, where the oeuvres of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky are so loved and where people are in awe of the Russian art, there is now a small part of the Helikon.
Together with Dmitry Bertman the friendly team of helikonians was working on the performance: set and costume designers Igor Nezhny and Tatiana Tulubieva, assistant director Galina Timakova, lighting designer Denis Enyukov, choreographer Edvald Smirnov. The musical direction of the production was assumed by maestro Andriy Yurkevich, in the main parts have performed by Evgenia Muraveva (Tatyana) Vasily Ladyuk (Onegin), Pavel Kolgatin (Lensky), Toriki Yayoi (Olga), Alexey Tikhomirov (Gremin).
Stylish, modern performance, but which is sustained in the best traditions of Russian opera and the great Stanislavsky could not fail to subdue the discerning Tokyo audience. We wish the performance a long life
