"Helikon-Opera" Opened its 28th Season
The main events of the new season will be seven premier performances.
On the 24th of November, 2017 at the "Stravinsky Hall" Dmitry Bertman will present his new version of "Mazeppa" by P. I. Tchaikovsky (conductor - Eugene Brazhnik) and on the 9th of December – his new version of "Queen of Spades" by P. I. Tchaikovsky (conductor - Vladimir Fedoseyev).
Since September, monthly, the kids’ audience of "Helikon-Opera" will enjoy a new theatre production “Visiting the Opera Tales" (stage director - Ilya Ilin, conductor -Valery Kiryanov), and on December 27-30, 2017, and January 3 – 8, 2018 traditionally "Helikon-Opera" invites young viewers and their parents for the New Year's premiere of the family musical "The Dream in Summer Night" (composer - A. Pokidchenko, stage director – Ilya Ilyin).
On the 23d of March, 2017 at the stage of the "Stravinsky Hall " the audience will enjoy the monodrama "The Human Voice" by Poulenc, the debut of the People's Artist of Russia Tamara Gverdtsiteli.
In May-June, 2018 two more premieres will be presented: on the stage of the “Stravinsky Hall” – a co-production with the Düsseldorf theatre "Deutsche Oper am Rhein" – "the Golden Cockerel" by N.. Rimsky-Korsakov (conductor – Vladimir Fedoseyev, stage director - Dmitry Bertman), and in ”The White-Columned hall of Princess Shakhovskaya” – opera "Aleko" by S. Rachmaninoff ( stage director - Rostislav Protasov, conductor - Valery Kiryanov).
The novelty of this season – an evening of one-act operas – will be held on February 1st, 2018. This event will consist of two one-act operas: "The Servant Mistress" by G. Pergolesi and "The Telephone" by Menotti.
In October, 2017 "Helikon-Opera" together with the Russian National Award "Golden mask" goes on tour to Estonia. Here, in the city of Sillamäe, there will be a gala concert of the soloists of the theatre, and on October 15th, 2017 on the stage of Russian theatre of Estonia in Tallinn the Estonian audience will have an opportunity to see and hear the European premiere of "Dr. Haas" by A. Sergunin, libretto by L. Ulitskaya ( stage director - Denis Azarov).
On the 14th of October, 2017 theatre will celebrate the 85th birthday of Musical Director of the theatre, the distinguished conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev. At the “Stravinsky Hall” simultaneously two orchestras - the P. I. Tchaikovsky State Academic Grand Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra of "Helikon-Opera" will play together.
Also in the fall of 2017, "Helikon-Opera" will host the international festival “DanceInversion” – one of the main Russian events in the field of contemporary dance organized by the State Bolshoi theatre of Russia. On the 16th and 17th of November at the "Stravinsky Hall " the National Ballet of Marseille will perform, and on the 2nd and 3d of December – Jessica Lang Dance from the United States will get the stage.
On the 29th of November, 2017 a coproduction of “Helikon- Opera” and “Theatre Lyrichoregra 20” will be presented in the “Shakhovskaya Hall” by the concert “Montreal-Moscow” of Helikon-Opera and Canadian singers – The Ambassadors of Culture. The same concert later will be presented in Montreal, Canada.
