Evening to the memory of Holocaust victims
On January 27 in the context of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust the memorial evening will be held in "Helikon-Opera". On this day in 1945, Soviet troops liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp, one of the largest of the death camps of Nazi Germany, which was located on the territory of nowadays Poland. The evening will feature songs "From Jewish Folk Poetry" by Shostakovich, Hostias and Sanctus from Mozart's Requiem, fragments of the Hymn of Nations cantata and Hebrew Slaves Choir from the "Nabucco" by G. Verdi.
Soloists of Helikon-Opera Igor Morozov, Julia Gornostaeva, Olga Tolkmit, Konstantin Brzhinsky, artists of the choir and orchestra are taking part in the concert. Director - Ilya Ilyin. Conductor - Valery Kiryanov.
Memory evening is organised by the Department of Culture of Moscow together with Department of National Policy, Interregional Communications and Tourism and Russian Jewish Congress.
