Artists of "Helikon-Opera" performed at the Tchaikovsky Museum in Klin
On the 21st of October a theatrical and musical project "The Queen of Spades" was performed at the State Memorial Museum of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaykovskiy in Klin. The show took place in the framework of the concert and the exhibition project "Tchaikovsky’s Theatre", organized by the Museum and the Ministry of Culture of the Moscow region. The opera "The Queen of Spades" by Tchaikovsky is based on the novel by Alexander Pushkin.
Artistic Director of "Helikon-Opera" Dmitry Bertman accepted the invitation to become a participant of the project in February 2015 in the suburban town of Domodedovo. There, in the festival "Seasons in the Moscow Region. Time to Read... ", which is a part of the Governor's program "Our Moscow", happened the first meeting of soloists and orchestra of "Helikon-Opera" with actor Yevgeny Knyazev and a new creative union was founded.
"The Queen of Spades" is one of the most complex, beautiful and marvelous works of Russian literature and Russian music", says the Culture Advisor to the Governor of the Moscow region Narmin Shiraliyeva about this project. "And when I heard Yevgeny Knyazev reading Pushkin's text from the scene, I immediately thought that in conjunction with the music of Tchaikovsky his monologue would be a harmonious and complete stage composition".
Fragments of the opera – the Scene in the Summer Garden, the Ballad of Tomsky, the Scene of Thunderstorm, Arioso of Lisa, the Scene in the Bedroom of the Countess, the Scene in the Barracks, the Scene at the Groove, Arioso of Herman – were performed by the soloists of "Helikon-Opera" Honored Artist of Russia Larisa Kostiuk, Vadim Zaplechny, Sergei Toptygin and winner of international competitions Olga Shcheglova and orchestra of "Helikon-Opera". Director - Natalia Dychenko.Conductor - Valery Kiryanov. The novel "The Queen of Spades" was performed on the stage by the People's Artist of Russia Yevgeny Knyazev.
On the 21st of October 2015 the Museum also opened an exhibition "Tchaikovsky’s Theatre" (supervisor – Doctor of Art Pauline Weidmann).
