Alexandra Sokolova

Alexandra Sokolova, soprano

Born in Moscow. Graduated from the Galina Vishnevskaya College of Musical Theatre and the V.S. Popov Choral Art Academy, specializing in “Music Theatre Art” (solo vocalist, coach) in the class of the professor S.G. Nesterenko. Alexandra also continued her studies in the assistantship internship at the V.S. Popov Academy.

In 2019, in the framework of the “Opera Art” festival, she participated in a concert production of Dvorak's opera “Rusalka”. In 2020, at the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre, she impersonated the part of Mercédès in “Carmen” by G. Bizet (conductor F. Chizhevsky, stage director K. Bogomolov). In 2021, in the framework of the “Opera Class” project (by the E. Obraztsova Foundation), she impersonated the parts of Fire and Nightingale in the production of M. Ravel's opera “L'enfant et les sortilèges” (conductor D. Korchak, stage director E. Vasileva). In 2022, she impersonated the part of the Queen of the Night in the Mozart's “Die Zauberflöte” at the Moscow Region Philharmonic Theatre (stage director N. Anastasieva). In 2022, at the V.S. Popov Academy Opera Studio, she performed the role of Anna in Mozart's opera "Don Giovanni", conducted by I. Vasheruk and directed by N. Anastasieva.

Alexandra is a laureate of various international competitions:

• 1st prize of the Viatka International Music Competition for Young Performers (2017);
• 3^rd prize of the “New Opera World” International Competition (2020);
• Finalist of the Georg Ots International Music Festival-Competition (2020);
• Diploma recipient of the “Opera Bella” International Festival and Competition (2021);
• 3^rd prize of the Byulbyul International Vocalists Competition (2022);
• Diploma recipient of the 14^th International Competition of Young Opera Singers Elena Obraztsova, special prizes: “Belcanto perfection” (established by Nikolai Baskov), “For the Best Performance of a Russian Opera Aria” (in honor of Antonina Nezhdanova's 150th anniversary), and “Participation in the Gala Concert of World Opera Stars as part of the 13th Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum in December 2023” (established by the Bolshoi Theatre of the Republic of Belarus).

In 2022-2023, she was an intern of the Second Youth Program for Opera Artists of the Helikon-opera theatre and the Art-Helios. Based on the results, she has joined the troupe of Helikon-opera theatre.During the internship, Alexandra has impersonated 5 leading parts on the Helikon-opera stage and participated in the concert programs.
