International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition 2017  with its Final Rounds in Moscow, Russia


Well known as the world’s best networked singing competition, qualifying rounds of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition have been organized in over 70 cities on all continents with 1.000 and more participants in the recent years. The best 100-120 singers are judged in the Final Rounds by an opera jury of renowned opera houses including Teatro alla Scala Milano, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden – Semperoper, Cape Town Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Helikon Opera Moscow among others.

Past prize winners include 2016 first and second prize winners Nicholas Brownlee (USA) and Noluvuyiso Mpofu (South Africa), Angela Gheorghiu (Romania), Elina Garanča (Latvia), the Russian singers Egils Silins und Irina Lungu (who got engaged at Teatro alla Scala Milano directly after the competition) as well as South African soprano Pretty Yende, Italian tenor Antonio Poli, US soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen or Norwegian soprano Lise Davidsen in the recent years. Former Belvedere Competition winners – Stanislav Schwez and Irina Samoilova were from Helikon-opera theatre and Marina Mescheriakowa started her career at Helikon Opera.

The online registration will start on February 01, 2017. A total of 70 qualifying rounds including qualifying Rounds in St. Petersburg, Irkutsk and Moscow, are being held around the world from March until June 2017.
