Artistic Director of Helikon-Opera Dmitry Bertman is a member of the jury of the INTERNATIONAL SINGING COMPETITION FOR YOUNG OPERA SINGERS in the Netherlands.
The annual competition will start in Amsterdam today.

"Belvedere" is one of the most famous and important singing competitions in the world. It is, above all, gives an opportunity to young talents to meet people who can help them to build a career. The jury includes the heads of the most famous musical theaters in the world. Representatives of theater agencies watch the contestants all along. Qualifying rounds are held in more than fifty cities around the world. They involve up to three thousand singers.

This competition was organized thirty years ago by Hans Gabor, founder and permanent artistic director of the Vienna Chamber Opera. All his life he paid great attention for the search and development of young singing talents. Many great singers began his vocal career at the Vienna Chamber Opera. Gabor's efforts in this area led to the creation of a new type of vocal contest, where participants have the opportunity to communicate with theatrical agents and representatives of theaters. After the death of its founder, the competition began to carry his name.

This year the competition is held in the National Opera of the Netherlands. The winners will be the three contestants, they will be chosen from more than 150 applicants. Dmitry Bertman has been a permanent member of the jury of this prestigious competition and represents the Russian opera.
