The technique of sound transmition in Helikon-opera will be unique – Andrey Bochkarev

In the context of the reconstruction of "Helikon-Opera" Construction Department of Moscow has started assembling elements of the unique speaker system in the new hall of the theater.

"The uniqueness of the new hall of Helikon-Opera will be the technology of sound transmission, which has no analogues in the world. Builders started assembling stage equipment (winches and hoists), constructing acoustic ceiling of the hall, hanging "helikons" (acoustically reflective spherical elements), said the head of the Department of Construction of the city of Moscow Andrey Bochkarev.

After completion of the work, a false ceiling above the stage, which also will form a starry sky effect, will create quality acoustics in the new hall, which seats 500 spectators, and 13 so-called "helikons’, spherical sound-reflecting elements, and side panels.

In the context of reconstruction of Moscow musical theatre “Helikon-opera”, the works on construction and expansion of the existing building complex of the theatre, located in Glebova-Streshneva-Shakhovskaya manor (XVIII - XIX centuries): builders reconstructed historical body and create a new venue in overlapped courtyard of the manor.

The new hall will be named "Stravinsky", in honor of the famous Russian composer.

Settings and technical equipment of the scene are expected to meet modern advanced technology requirements, according to global standards for light and sound perception of the theatrical action.

Tablet scene will be equipped with lifting and standpipe platforms that can be raised and lowered simultaneously in front of the spectator. For the drive of the platforms the Serapid chain mechanism is used. The peculiarity of the mechanism is that the link chains can be transformed into rigid movable columns on which the platforms are rested.

Construction opportunities of the stage can host the real bell tower, which is being made according to a special project. Thus, for example, in scenes of historical operas, such as "Boris Godunov", real chimes would sound.

The walls of the new building will be equipped with LED-panels with LED lighting system, which can display a variety of images to create the special visual effects during performances (eg, to create the underwater world for the opera "Sadko", etc.).

Ancient porch of the manor will serve as the royal lodge, according to a project plan.

In the existing historic building, in particular, recreated a small hall for 227 seats. The results of scientific restoration was to preserve its unique acoustics. White-columned hall was named patron Princess Shakhovskoy that invite here for performances all color of the Russian intelligentsia. In this hall conducted by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Feodor Chaliapin sang, Alexander Pushkin read his poems. Here he played his first concert in Russia Claude Debussy.

"Soon musical theater" Helikon-Opera will again be able to show their performances at the historic renewed stage. Helikon-Opera will be a world-class theater: a unique historical building was comnnected with new technologies", - said Deputy Mayor for urban policy and the construction of Marat Khusnullin.

"Helikon-Opera" is scheduled to open a new theater season in 2015. A scale gala concert for the builders will be the first performance in the renewed theater.
