"Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District" in the Teatro Comunale di Bologna

On November 17, 2014 Moscow musical theater "Helikon-Opera" under Dmitry Bertman
begins work on a joint project with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Bologna, Italy)
- production of Dmitry Shostakovich's opera "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk District".
Performances take place in the Teatro Comunale, Largo Respighi, 1, Bologna
December 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10, 2014.

One of the best operas of the XX century, staged by Dmitry Bertman in "Helikon" in 2000, absorbed the paradoxical nature and cruelty of time, experienced not only by Leskov heroes, but by the whole mankind.
The performance of "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk District" received four "Golden Mask" in various categories, more than 15 thousands of viewers saw it in Moscow and St. Petersburg in Russia, Paris and Montpellier in France, Tallinn in Estonia, Seoul in South Korea, Tel Aviv in Israel and Miskolc in Hungary. In Italy this show had a huge success in 2003 on stage of Dante Alighieri theatre in the context of Ravenna Festival program by Cristina and Riccardo Muti.

This year "Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk District" returns to Italy to the famous Teatro Comunale di Bologna as a joint production by the two friendly theaters. On the side of "Helikon-Opera" the artistic director of the theater and stage director Dmitry Bertman serves primarily, as well as the authors of the sets and costumes Igor Nezhny and Tatiana Tulubieva. Teatro Comunale di Bologna, in addition to the stage, provides a wonderful orchestra, which will be conducted by Vladimir Ponkin, and the chorus, which four leading actors of the chorus of "Helikon-Opera" under the direction of Ilya Ilyin will join in. All soloists involved in the opera are from Helikon. This is Elena Mikhaylenko and Svetlana Sozdateleva, Ilya Govzich and Vadim Zaplechny, Larisa Kostyuk, Alexei Tikhomirov, Stas Shvets, Dmitry Ponomarev, Dmitry Skorikov, Alexander Miminoshvili, Maya Barkovskaya, Michael Seryshev and others.

After a short rehearsal period the performance will be played on the stage of Teatro Comunale for six times. All tickets for the performances are sold out.
