A recital of Alisa Gitsba

A good tradition in our theatre is to organize recitals of leading soloists of “Helikon-Opera”. The Honoured Artists of Russia Alisa Gitsba (soprano) continued it on the 8th of June. Alisa presented to the judgment of the spectators not even the concert with classical set of arias and romances, but the entire performance in two acts. The monoopera of Francis Poulenc “Human voice” was performed in its first act, the second act contained “Le bal masque” by the same composer. These were the contrast works which allowed the artist to perform in completely different theatrical characters.

In “Human voice” (stage director Natalia Dychenko, conductor Viktoria Unguryanu) Alisa created a dramatic image of a woman who cannot live without ideals and recoil of love and decides to kill herself. “Le bal masque”,although it has an author’s subtitle “Secular cantata on the verses of Max Jacob”, is in itself a set of playful vocal sketches from Parisian life of the thirties of the last century. Director Natalia Dychenko invited spectators as to a small cabaret, to which different characters of Alisa Gitsba like Madame la Dophine, Malvine, Blind Lady. Viacheslav Starodubtsev had a silent role  of the Mime, who developed remarkable plastic skills and emphasized all the embodiments of the artist. The conductor of “Le Bal Masque” was Honoured Artist of Russia Mark Pekarsky.
