Eugene Nesterenko in "Helikon-Opera"
A unique event happened in "Helikon-Opera" theatre on the 23rd December, People's Artist of USSR, professor, world famous opera celebrity and "star of basses" Eugene Nesterenko was a guest of Prince Orlovsky's ball. After leaving Bolshoi theatre he lives in Vienna, doesn't often visit Russia and practically doesn't sing here. On the 23rd December Eugene Nesterenko visited "Helikon-Opera" and performed aria of Don Basilio from "Il barbiere di Siviglia" by G. Rossini.
The Prince, performed by Svetlana Rossiyskaya, presented the artist with a watch with theatre symbolic and proposed him to live according to Helikon's time since then. Eugene Nesterenko happily agreed.

In the make-up room the artist gave a small interview for Alla Aleshina, press secretary of the theatre.
– How it happened that today you perform in "Helikon-Opera"?
– I met Dmitry Bertman in Vienna. I have always followed his creativity through world press publications. Bertman has a very high reputation in the West, he is invited to the best opera theatres. I admire his creative exploit - it is a very rare case in history when someone could create his own opera theatre, I can only name Stanislavsky and Zimin.
I know that some of Bertman's works were of scandalous character, but they have always been convincing in their aestethics. At the moment "Helikon-Opera" is at the world level.

– Are you familiar with creativity of "Helikon-Opera" soloists?
– I was the Head of Vocalist Department of Moscow State conservatory, when Natasha Zagorinskaya, a young pianist, who was still deciding if she needs singing or not, came for an audition to me. I advised her to enter our department. Through all years of her studies I have been following her development. – А есть ли еще совместные с «Геликоном» проекты?
– Бертман полон идей. Может быть, спою в его «Борисе Годунове».
После спектакля Евгений Нестеренко встретился с артистами. «Это одна из лучших постановок оперетты Штрауса из тех, которые я видел. Молодые талантливые артисты с замечательными голосами поражают своей актерской игрой и делают спектакль искрометным и захватывающим. Уютный театр, прекрасная атмосфера в труппе, замечательный режиссер и руководитель Дмитрий Бертман – все это доказывает красоту и уникальность «Геликона». Надеюсь на дальнейшие совместные проекты с вами».
Дмитрий Бертман выступил с ответным словом, в котором сказал о символичности выступления Евгения Нестеренко в этом зале, потому что когда-то, в начале 20 века здесь часто выступал Ф. И. Шаляпин, наследником традиций которого является Евгений Евгеньевич. После речей все вместе фотографировались на память.
