Congratulations on the Demon's premiere in Bordeaux

On January 29 (2020) in the Opéra National de Bordeaux with the great success took place the firstnight of the “Demon” by A. Rubinstein, staged by Dmitry Bertman. Aleksey Isaev, the Helikon-opera soloist, has impersonated the part of Demon for the first time. He has replaced Nicolas Cavallier, who got sick the day before the premiere. Aleksey immediately took off to Bordeaux and blended in the cast.

The production on the oldest European stage – is the second step of the international coproduction of 4 opera houses: Grand Theatre del Liceo (Barcelona), Opéra National de Bordeaux, Staatstheater Nürnberg and Helikon-opera (Moscow). It is amazing how each time the birth of the performance happens all over again, but the opera finds the new breath.

Opéra National de Bordeaux and its art-director Marc Minkowski have dedicated the premiere of the “Demon” to the outstanding actor Dmitry Hvorostovsky.

Conductor Paul Daniel, set and costume designer Hartmut Schoghofer (Austria), lighting designer Thomas Hase (USA), choreographer Edvald Smirnov also were working on the performance.
