European premieres by Dmitry Bertman

Lately The Artistic Director of Helikon-Opera Dmitry Bertman went to Helisinki, in where he is starting to rehearse ”The Rake’s Progress” by Igor Stravinsky.

The international artistic team is working  over the premiere. The sets will be made by Hartmut Schoerhoffer (Germany), known by his scenography for “Orpheus” by C. W. Gluck and “L'Olimpiade” by J. Mysliveček in Prague National Opera, ”The Rake’s Progress” in Viennese Volksoper, “Falstaff” by G.Verdi and “Madame Butterfly” by G. Puccini  in Semperoper Dresden, “La Boheme” in Moscow New Opera.

Erika Tuurinen (Finland), the costume designer, took part in working over the Finale of “Eurovision” in 2007, she also used to cooperate with the Finnish National Opera, The Netherlands Dance Theatre, made the costumes for The Geneve's Grand Theatre, ballet productions of the Lyon Opera and Dannish Royal Opera House.

The music part of the production is under the supervision of Eivind Gullberg Jensen, who conducted the «Russalka» by A.Dvorak in Roma Opera at the last season opening. The scenic movement is the responsibility of Edvald Smirnov, the choreographer of Helikon-Opera.

The audiences is looking forward to seeing the premiere – almost 60 years ago the «Rake's Progress» was staged in the Finnish National Opera. 10 performances are supposed to be shown from March 10 till May 6, 2016.

Just after the production in Helsinki is ready, Dmitry Bertman will go to Dusseldorf, where he will stage “The Golden Cockerel” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
