NATALIA ZAGORINSKAYA
Soprano

Natalia Zagorinskaya was born in Moscow. She graduated with honors from the vocal faculty of the Moscow Conservatory (the class of Professor V.N. Kudryavtseva). After Dmitry Bertman’s invitation in 1991 she has become the soloist of the Moscow musical theatre Helikon-opera.

In her repertoire there are more than 40 parts in operas by Russian, European and modern composers, staged in Helikon-opera. Among them there are: are Tatiana and Liza (’’Eugene Onegin”, “The Queen of Spades” by P. Tchaikovsky), Violetta, Aida, Amelia and Alice Ford (“La Traviata”, “Aida”, “Un ballo in maschera” and “Falstaff” by G. Verdi), Stephana (“Siberia” by U. Giordano), Mariana (“Das Liebesverbot” by R. Wagner), Tsarina Aleksandra Fedorovna (“Rasputin” by J. Reise), Emilia Marty (“Věc Makropulos” by K. Čapek), Blanche (“Dialogues des Carmélites” by F. Poulenc), Anna I (“Seven deadly sins” by K. Weil). For the role of Carmen from Bizet’s opera of the same name, the singer was awarded by the National Theatre Award “Golden Mask” in the nomination “The Best Female Role in Opera” (1998).

Natalia Zagorinskaya is a popular interpreter of the music of the 20th century composers, including L. Dallapiccola, L. Nono, P. Boulez, G. Kurtág, F. Poulenc and the others. 

With e agreat success she has been performing on the largest concert venues in the world - in the Moscow State Conservatory, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Palais Garnier in Paris, the Wiener Musikverein in Vienna, the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Victoria Hall in Geneva and others. Took part in prestigious international festivals: Salzburg Festival, Lucerne Festival, art festivals in Edinburgh, Geneva, Helsinki.

She was cooperated with such outstanding conductors as V. Spivakov, T. Currentzis, V. Ponkin. Famous composers, for example, Edison Denisov, dedicated their works to her.

For the significant contribution to the Russian musical and theatrical art development she was awarded by Certificate of Honor of the Moscow culture committee (2005), Ministry of Culture of Russia (2009), and was given the title of the Honored Artist of Russia (1999) and the People's Artist of Russia (2006).
