MARINA KARPECHENKO

Soprano

Born in Moscow. In 1992 graduated with honors the conducting-choral faculty of The Gnesins Russian Academy of music.

In 1994 she was invited to work in Helikon-Opera as a choir artist, later she has been combining it with the job of the opera troupe’s concertmaster. In 1998, after the successful debut in the part of Aida in the opera “Aida” by G. Verdi, Marina Karpechenko has become the soloist of the Helikon-Opera.

Now there are more than 30 operatic parts various in scale, style, genres. Among them there are: Countess Almaviva in “Le nozze di Figaro” and the 1st lady in the “Die Zauberflöte” by W.A. Mozart, Rita and Norma in operas of the same name by G. Donizetti and V. Bellini, Aida, Lady Macbeth, Alice Ford in G. Verdi's operas “Aida”, “Macbeth” and “Falstaff”, Isabella in “Das Liebesverbot” by R. Wagner, Turandot in the “Turandot” by G. Puccini, Parasha in “Mavre” by I. Stravinsky, a fifteen-year-old girl in “Lulu” by A. Berg, Fata Morgana in “The Love for Three Oranges” by S. Prokofiev etc.

Outstanding conductors has been working with Marina Karpechenko - G. Rozhdestvensky, A. Vedernikov, V. Fedoseev, E. Mazzola, T. Currentzis, V. Ponkin.

The singer also pursues vast concert activity, performing on prestigious Moscow venues – in the Conservatory Halls, Tchaikovsky concert hall, Moscown international performing arts center, Richter memorial apartment. There are solo parts in cantata-oratorio compositions (“The Requiem” by W. A. Mozart, choral symphony “Kolokola” by S. Rachmaninoff), song cycles, chamber vocal compositions, arias and scenes from the operas by Russian and foreign composers.

An important event in Marina Karpechenko’s biography was the recording the CDs of all 15 P. Hindemith’s motets and G. Mahler’s selected vocal works in orchestration made for the singer by composer B. Tishchenko.

Marina Karpechenko is awarded with the Certificate of Honour of the Moscow culture committee and in 2006 she was given the title of Honored Artist of Russia for the merits in the music art.

From 2011 she has devoted herself in educational work: as the senior lecturer of the Vocal and Choral Conducting Department she professed in the Moscow State pedagogical university, and since 2019 she is docent of the Academic Singing Department at the Moscow State Institute of Culture.
